Below Deck Mediterranean’s Peter Hunziker Apologizes for Offensive Post 6 Weeks After Firing
Deckhand Removed from Show After Previous Problematic Behavior
Departure Confirmed 3 Episodes Into Current Season
Devoted fans of the hit Bravo series might remember the network announcing back in June that season five deckhand Pete Hunziker had been fired. His firing was confirmed on June 17th, three episodes into the current season. Bravo said in a statement at the time of his termination, “Peter Hunziker was fired from Below Deck Med for a racist post which was the final straw after his previous problematic behavior.”
Hunziker has now taken to Instagram to issue an apology for the post, which was made in 2019. In the post, Hunziker used a racial slur and made other offensive comments. Hunziker said in his apology that he is “deeply sorry” for the post and that he “understands the gravity” of his actions. He also said that he is “committed to learning from his mistakes and becoming a better person.”
Hunziker’s apology comes six weeks after he was fired from Below Deck Med. It is unclear if he will be returning to the show in the future.
The Bravo network has not yet commented on Hunziker’s apology.
