World Athletics Championships concludes in Budapest
India finishes 18th with one gold medal
The World Athletics Championships 2023 concluded in Budapest, Hungary on August 28, with Team GB returning home with an impressive 10 medals, matching their efforts from Stuttgart in 1993.
India also had a successful championships, finishing 18th with one gold medal, courtesy of Neeraj Chopra in the men's javelin throw.
The championships were held over 10 days and saw some of the world's best athletes compete for glory. There were some outstanding performances, including a world record in the men's 100m by American Fred Kerley.
Team GB's medal haul included two golds, three silvers and five bronzes. The gold medals came from Jake Wightman in the men's 1500m and Keely Hodgkinson in the women's 800m.
India's gold medal came in the men's javelin throw, with Neeraj Chopra producing a throw of 88.13m to win the title. It was India's first gold medal at the World Athletics Championships since 2003.
The World Athletics Championships 2023 were a great success, with some outstanding performances from athletes around the world. Team GB and India can be proud of their achievements in Budapest.
